Her journey
After completing her BA hons degree at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), ÇOTEARS works as an independent engineer, as well as a member (Sound Engineer) at the well renowned Roundhouse Studios. During her studies, she had been working under tutors such as Marwan 'King Tut' El-Bergamy (Jessie J, Ella Henderson, Nekfeu), Matthew Twaites (Paradisia, Zahara, Superfood), Shea Stedford (MNEK, Little Mix, ITV) and Paul Ressel (Lana Del Rey, National Geographic).
Many of their productions utilise soundscapes/synthesisers to create atmospheric work. With a deep interest in visual arts, her music seeks to blend and enhance the narrative a still or moving image can tell. Despite much of her work remaining behind the scenes, Ço is just as involved in the recordings and arrangements of many projects she is a part of. Her attention to detail makes sure every recording is authentic and sincerely felt by the listener. Her arrangements reflect careful attention to layering, dynamics and storytelling. With a love for classical guitar, she pulls much of her creativity from Latin Jazz and Flamenco style influences. Her own work mirroring the complex, percussive rhythms and harmonies within a variety of cultures. Combined, ÇOTEARS embeds styles and techniques from many genres to create a fusion of new and unique sounds.
In her time at ACM, Ço has demonstrated a keen aptitude for music production in general and composition for media specifically. Their composition work expresses an imaginative and explorative approach to music, underpinned by strong technical skills within production fidelity and mixing. There is an intuitive sense of narrative across her compositions, opening her up to a variety of fields to collaborate across.
